Big Five for Life™
Most approaches to improving
organizational or leadership performance begin by identifying the
measurements or metrics to be improved, things like EBITDA, Earned
Value, EVA, OTD, Throughput, job satisfaction, etc.
Too often those metrics become confused with goals. While goals
motivate us and our organizations, metrics tell us how we’re doing.
Put another way, achieving the right metrics is a necessary, but
not sufficient, step toward a goal. Goals provide the “Why”,
metrics and plans provide the “How.”
Yet there have been few good toolsets available for identifying
goals and articulating them in a compelling way, at least not
without going through a six month process. Recently, however, a
Claymore Group client introduced us to John P. Strelecky and his
Big Five for Life™ book and program.
This is what we found:
- John is a former strategy consultant who has thought deeply about every part of his books and program. He’s tested his approaches and they work.
- John’s books are great reads — not your normal business fodder — each is written in an absorbing light novel format, each makes an impact.
- Becoming certified in the Big Five for Life™ and going through the insightful and enjoyable process helped significantly with our own major goals.
- The Big Five for Life™ perfectly compliments our TOC work — one tool for goals, another for constraints to achieving them.
- The Big Five for Life™ program was something we definitely wanted to offer both our organizational and coaching clients.
The Claymore Group now offers the Big Five for Life™ for organizational presentations, workshops, and full programs. These are perfect opportunities to refocus, align goals, and even to begin innovation initiatives.
We also offer executive coaching for leaders that want to lead more authentically and achieve greater levels of personal success. Coaching can be conducted either face-to-face or by phone.
